Insights drawn from user interview & prototype testing
To align NFC and MST payment processes, I conducted user interviews and on-sight prototype testing in order to come up with realistic solutions based on user insight.

Simple Pay
In terms of MST payment, tagging your phone on a credit card reader won't wake up your phone automatically, which is out of sync with NFC payment process. So we had to come up with an alternative method to let users quickly bring up Samsung Pay in front of the cashier. We decided to provide users with a shortcut accessible from any screen, and we applied the metaphor of pulling your credit card out of your wallet with your thumb. The Simple Pay functionality provides users with the peace of mind that Samsung Pay is always accessible at the swipe of your finger. We also made the credit card slide in and float on top of the current screen to make it feels like a simple and light experience.

Payment Process
MST and NFC payment flows are exactly the same except that MST payment does not receive feedback on complete transactions. However, according to our research, users do not pay much attention to the phone after the point of tagging their phone on the POS so not many users should notice the difference.
MST
Scan fingerprint > Tag on credit card reader > Feedback is provided by cashier or POS (let the payment mode time out or tap hardware back key to quit)
NFC
Scan fingerprint > tag on NFC reader > 'Payment complete' message is shown on screen
Instruction
Detailed instruction is provided when users tap 'View tutorial' button.
App Home
The basic layout of the Home screen is consistent with that of Simple Pay. Within the app, users are able to add cards and view transaction details as well as change the app Settings.
Registration Process
Registration process has been simplified with the help of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) solution.
